Joining Soulemama today for {This Moment}
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A
single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple,
special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and
remember.
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.
As it's the end of the week I thought I'd share a couple of really interesting TV programmes recently. As far a I can tell they are still available to watch online.
A really interesting watch was "The Secret History of our Streets" A chronicle of Deptford high street, now one of the most deprived areas in London.
"We want to make the city work like a machine" declared the modernists of the late sixties as they threw up blocks of flats one after another, fragmenting the once thriving market based community of East London.
The irony being, of course, that the few houses that were spared the bulldozer are now selling for near on a million each!
Having lived in East London for a time I found this tale quite moving.
A telling documentary.
another good one...
Artist Grayson Perry's "In the Best Possible Taste" was a fascinating exploration into British class and taste.
I kind of think of myself as a weird mix of classes.
I have aspects of both working class and middle class to my identity.
Class is such a strange thing to think about. It has such tribal elements to it. I love the way this programme turned class prejudice on it's head.
Have a wonderful weekend :)
My creative soul is always stirred when I visit you SuzyQ! I hope you and your family have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I bet the busy-ness lasted for hours! We are definitely due for some clay creations around here. I've been promising another batch of cloud dough, but the days just keep getting away from me! :)
