Simple Woman's Daybook

"Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known."

 FOR TODAY

Outside my window...

Crisp morning sunlight is flooding the road platinum. Dogs are barking.
There is a sense of stillness

I am thinking...

About how important connection is.

I am thankful...

For a husband that just brought me bread and jam, a cup of coffee and a little time alone before he goes off to work.

In the kitchen...

Roast dinner with chicken, potatoes, french beans and carrots for dinner today.
I look forward to roast days.

I am wearing...

I'm still in my pajamas. It's early enough still... sortof :)

I am creating...

Another birthday crown

I am going...

On my first holiday in 10 years in a weeks time!!!
I have butterflies just writing that.

I am learning

To cultivate my own time out of the day, to be, to listen, to pray and to grow in myself.
I am also learning, now that the girls are getting older, to give them this too.

I am pondering...

About what real holiness is all about.

"And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

I like this idea of holiness.

A favourite quote for today...

"No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to ...others is that it makes them kind themselves.
- Amelia Earhart

One of my favourite things...

Sitting in the garden, with the sun sighing deep on my face, listening to the girls playing happily.

A peek into my day...

 leftovers :)

And a book my great Aunt who was a nun published many years ago.
My children love it.
I really want to republish it to preserve it.
I think it is the last known copy:(

  1. I love your day book Suzy Q, I have been wanting to do one for ages and really must get to it.
How exciting to be taking a holiday. I am a homebody too so I do understand how you feel, but I do believe you are going to have the best time. It' is so good for the soul to get away once in awhile.
I hope one day you can republish your aunt's book, I would love to read it. :)

  2. Ditto on the holiday thing. On the one hand, I would adore taking the kids to see the ocean, land-locked as we are here in Tennessee; on the other hand, the thought of packing and living life elsewhere for a week or so is exhausting in itself. For better or worse, our milk cow sort of ties us to home. It is easy enough to find someone to feed the cats and chickens; finding someone to milk your cow is another matter! But you will come home with photos and life-long memories to make it worthwhile!

Holiness? Placing God and neighbor before self for love of God. JOY = Jesus first, Others next, Yourself last. I think that it must be true, because I find that the best way to get out of a whiny, self-pitying mood is to so something nice for someone else.

Oh, DO try to get your aunt's book republished!

"Truly, madly, deeply" clean...love the movie with Alan Rickman. Love Alan Rickman!
