Conformity

<span class=

Like seeds in damp soil, the real work is always done obscurely and without notice.

Our girls are the most vibrant, beautiful souls, but they are also very free spirited.

They do not have that innate understanding of social conventions that many other children might.

They are quite comfortable too talk freely and express themselves, and they have a keen and honest awareness of their own emotions and the emotions of others.

They have the freedom and lack of self consciousness and fear that restricts them or their imaginations and I am in awe of their creativity and energy.

Yet still, I am sometimes overcome by the pressures of external expectations.

I think the time has simply come for me to fully embrace our choices and our way of life and not fear or take account of the "conventional" view on these things.

Why should hair always have to be perfectly brushed and socks match anyway ?

  3. Suzy, I come here, read your words, gaze upon your photos and always have the feeling of wishing we were neighbors, especially now. I wish I could have you over for a cup of tea, let the girls run and play in the garden, allowing us a chance to just talk. You my dear are a beautiful soul! :)

  6. i've missed you too. and the girls too. and i am happy that you are getting closer and closer to God all the time. that's what it's all about, isn't it? just think how smart we will be when we are old ladies....so smart. all this undoing and putting back together till he gets it just right. it will almost take a lifetime, in my case anyways :)

  7. I Agree! I've missed seeing you in the space...hearing your words. I always deeply appreciate your honesty, even your fragility. And i loved that quote from Mother Theresa about our lives getting ugly before they get beautiful. I feel like I see that in my own life over and over!
