{Yarn Along} ...and a giveaway!

Joining Ginny @ Small Things today for Yarn Along!

There has been a hive of creativity in our home recently what with all the homespun Christmas gift making that has been going on!
Emmy actually ended up in casualty, last week having run the sewing machine needle through her finger! It missed the bone by a millimeter and has now completely healed thank heavens, for a while it seemed as if her poor finger would be double it's size for good :(
I am incredibly proud of how brave she was though, not wanting to frighten her little sisters! I have a very strong girl. I'm pretty sure I would have been a trembling mess had it happened to me!

Anyway, on to some brighter news ...

I have started knitting a short sleeved jumper for Seraphina using smooth DK yarn that should be non itchy for her eczema. I'm hoping to have it finished for Christmas. I'm on the needles every spare moment (of which there aren't many:) Still I must admit a little bit of mindless stockinette is rather refreshing after all the eyelet, ruffle and cable drama of Nola's little pink cardi :)

By the way... Here is the little dolly friend I introduced you to last week. She all finished up and ready for one little Fina girl I know. I think she will fill the stocking up nicely don't you :)
I wonder what she will name her? She looks like a cheeky little "Pixie" to me, just like her soon to be Mama is :)

Reading wise, I have just finished the fun and fabulous "The Happiest Mom" by Megan Francis.
It is a whimsical, humorous book about motherhood by a mother of many who has been there, done that, got the t'shirt, the baseball hat and most likely the matching mug and tea towel too :)
It is written in a magazine style with lots of quizzes, hints and tips :)

I'm going to be giving away one copy of " The Happiest Mom" this week and a winner will be chosen at random and announced on Wednesday 7th of December! Why not treat yourself or another lovely Mama this Christmas and take part.

By the way just wanted to squeeze a favour in. Emmy has just entered Slambassadors! Here is her entry on youtube, if you click on that happy like button :) you might just make her day :)

I have a great fear of sewing my fingers with the sewing machine and then you post about your daughter...ouch! I am so glad she is healing.

  11. Owwww! She sounds as if she was much braver than I would have been!!

I'm all for a bit of mindless stockinette, especially with the children about. Having to concentrate with children around does absolutely nothing for my patience!

As I was reading your post, I thought that I should keep an eye out for that book, as it looks really good. So to find out that you are giving it away, that sounds perfect!

  13. Oh your poor baby... I've actually done something similar (it involved a buttonhole machine) and know how much that hurt. Glad she's healing well! Nice jumper and the doll is adorable.

  14. Oh my what a poetess! You did a great job homeschoolling her momma : ) I would totally have freaked out with the sewing incident. I am always afraid that my girls will do the same and now I will be doubly careful. The book sounds wonderful and as a momma of 8 I too have been there, have the tshirt to prove it but did not write a book about it so reading that one sounds like fun. Thank you for the chance : ) Tricia crunchycatholicmomma.blogspot.com

  16. It sounds like an awesome book....thanks for the chance to get a copy! I'm glad to hear your daughter's finger is okay. I taught my 10 year old how to use the sewing machine last year and she's sewn a hotpad and several pillows, but I did worry. My grandmother sewed over her finger...so it's something I always think about.
