Yarn Along - Craft On

I made these little dolls for the girl's Christmas stockings this year and have only just got around to photographing them.

I love knitting clothes for dolls :) So quick, satisfying and you can get away with all kinds of colour combinations, that  a real life Daddy might not be so thrilled with :)

Mummy doll's shawl looks so cosy and warm. I want one too!

These dolls are already getting a little fuzzy round the edges and more than once,  I've had to sewn in a couple of pulled threads but they are loved and played with  and that is what makes it all worthwhile.

Emmy crocheted me this lovely cowl for Christmas. I love the warm olive green yarn. It feels very special to wear it :)

I am considering this leg warmer knitting pattern to use up the surplus yarn from the vest I made Nola last week. It's always good when your vest matches your leg warmers isn't it.
:)

I'm still reading "The Life of Pi".... Nearly finished. Really amazing story, have to squint my eyes at some of the slightly gorier details of daily castaway survival. Now wondering how it all ends.
I've just begun the first few chapters of "The Mill on the Floss" by George Elliot which I read some years ago. I love the descriptive richness of 19th century novels. Vivid characters and copious vocabulary make a perfect companion to chill, snowy evenings.

What are you creating/reading at the moment?

Also Emmy is a very clever crocheter and the lovely olive green matches your golden hair perfectly.

  5. You really are one talented Mama Suzy. All the little doll clothes are perfect for their babies. I took a peek at the leg warmers and think they would be just right to match the vest, here in the south matching is very important in fashion ;)

  7. What fortunate girls to have such a tallented mummy! They are gorgeous and I love the cowl that Emmy made, she is certainly following in her mum's footsteps. I am quite tempted to try and read life of Pi, I have just finished Eric Liddell - Pure Gold biography, which has been stunning.

  14. Hi Victoria :) Thank you very much for your kind comments!
I buy the doll bodies from Myriad online, I think they're called rope dolls and you can find them in their crafts section.
I kind of make the clothes up as I go along lol! I knit to fit the dolls shapes using the same kind of increases and decreases I would for bigger sizes just fitting them against the dolls as I go!
Hope that helps a little :)

    1. thank you suzy! i will try...i'm a bit of a pattern person until i get going. annie rose would love them, her doll's house dolls are a bit worn out.. i made them from the pattern for 'boy girl and baby' in A children's Year. from the original dolls my boys have now made cowboys, inuits, indians and trappers. the little elves i originally made them are now sadly 'the baddies'! i cannot believe how much play and creativity have come from one little pattern! it was great to see you wearing a daughter-made gift.
