It's my birthday, how about some randomness...

In honour of being 33 here are
33 Random facts about me!

  • I hum or sing when I'm embarrassed. I'm doing a bit of both right now :)
  • I didn't talk until I was 3 years old.
  • After contemplating this list for some time, I realise that I am not actually very interesting after all :)
  • I don't mind getting older, I feel like I fit being old better than being young. Wrinkles don't scare me.
  • I dislike modern architecture, design, fashion and lots of other moderny things, I find them harsh looking, and full of too many straight lines, bling and primary colours.
  • I like old, broken things that have a story.
  • I often dream of being Amish, bonnet, buggie and all!
  • When I was little I wanted to be four things when I grew up, a nurse, a ballerina, an artist and a nun, ha!
  • I am a super messy (eat with my fingers) eater. I have to be careful what I order in resturants :)
  • I can't stand feeling like I've hurt someone, it gives me a deep ache.
  • I only started coming out of my shell in my mid twenties.
  • I feel stronger now and softer too. Life is made of strange paradoxes.
  • I know nothing about motherhood even though I have five children :) I only follow my heart and try my best with what I've got and hope it will be enough. Often I'm sure it's not.
  • My children are my dear friends and my great teachers.
  • Sometimes a big pool of sadness wells beneath my heart when I think about my childhood.
  • I love my parents with an abiding, love and a deep gratitude.
  • My favourite thing to eat is seared venison. I am a carnivore to the core and often have pangs of guilt about the fact as my heart is vegetarian. I have a weak will when it comes to steak.
  • If I'm listening to music I don't like to talk. I just like to listen.
  • I think that we are all here for a purpose.
  • I think the lesson of my life is to learn how to love properly.
  • I would drink a bottle of champagne a day if that wouldn't imply that I had a serious addiction to alcohol. Unfortunately I love the stuff and not just because it's pricey, a £3 bottle of cava would do just as well :)
  • I guess I have some will power when it comes to the fizzy stuff :)
  • Tea is a very good substitute. I love all kinds both herbal and black but my favourite is Lapsang Souchong.
  • When I grow up I want to be the crazy lady who lives in a log cabin in the woods and makes pots.
  • I am a dreamer :)
  • Going into town makes me anxious. As do supermarkets, bright lights and crowds.
  • When I was younger I used to be super sensitive, my skin felt on edge all the time. I feel the abrasive side of life far less acutely now.
  • I don't like judgemental attitudes or gossipping.  To always assume the best of others bestows dignity, not just on them but on ourselves.
  • I believe, everyone deserves to be loved and acccepted for who they are.
  • I can be way too serious when I should lighten up and way to silly and irreverent when I should just sit still and take note.
  • God is my best friend.
  • In all my life, I have never, and probably will never iron anything.
  • I really, really love watching Charlie and Lola.
and today this is my favourite song :)

I loved this post, so nice to get to know you a little better :) And I think you are a very interesting and inspiring person.

I don't mind getting old either, I feel better in my older skin than I did in my younger skin...and the wrinkles, who cares!

    Enjoy your day!

  3. Happy birthday sweet friend! I just love how many things we have in common, in all this world I have never met someone I am so much alike as you (ok, I know we have technically never met but you know what I mean). Can I live in the cabin next door and we can be the crazy LADIES? :) love you so, have an amazing birthday.

  4. Happy Birthday! I was not a mother at 33, but pregnant with my first child my list would have read very differently. You list resonates with me. Hope you have a lovely birthday.

  9. Happy Birthday Suzy, from one 33 year old to another! :) How lovely to get to know you better, we have much in common. You have also made me feel a little better today...you know, my littlest is not speaking yet - he just started saying mama though which is beautiful - he's three in June. I know he will be fine. Good to hear of others who started out a little later too though. Thank you Suzy.
    Blessings,
    Carly xx

  11. Happy birthday, love! Being such a late starter as I was (taking up a trade at 29, coming into the Church at 33 and having my first child at 35), I never felt old in my 30's or 40's...although now at 49 I am feeling a bit old, but only when a catch a glimpse of myself dancing to "oldies" from the 80's!

  14. My four things I wanted to do when I grew up were exactly the same! except I had a fifth one of wanting to be a florist - and I was :) I've also dreampt of being Amish many-a-time and feel just like you do about modern stuff. I see many other points of kindred spiritness on the list too that have made me smile and feel a little less alone.

Warmest and Brightest Birthday Blessings to You.
