Emmy and her Dad made this Bow and Arrow over the weekend. Emmy loves anything survivalist.
This Bow was made out of a young Yew. It was stripped of it's bark and carved into a gentle half moon shape. The ends of the Bow have to be carved thinner than the center so that the wood will bend without breaking.
Emmy helped her Dad make string for the bow using cotton thread. Several thread were wound tightly to make the string really strong. Then Emmy waxed the string to bond the individual threads together and to prevent friction on the arrows.
All it needs now is a coat of varnish!
